ich hatte nie einen zweifel daran, wer meine unangefochtene top 3-anime sind. sie gehören zu den ersten anime, die ich bewusst als solche wahrgenommen und regelrecht verschlungen habe, damals, als deutsche anime-fassungen noch gut waren. die drei titel lauten cowboy bebop, samurai champloo und vision of escaflowne. was kann es also besseres geben, als eine neue produktion, in welcher der direktor von cb und sc, die komponistin der soundtracks von cb und voe, und yūki noboteru, seineszeichens charadesigner von voe (sowie record of lodoss war, chrono cross u.a.), zusammenarbeiten? ich würde an meinen fingernägeln kauen vor aufregung, wenn ich die nicht immer so kurz schneiden würde. und was dem ganzen noch die krone aufsetzt ist das thema des anime: die geschichte spielt in den 60ern und hat ein großes thema: jazz. bitte entschuldigt mich, wenn ich kurz aufs dach steigen und laut meine freude in die welt hinausschreien muss.

sakamichi no apollon ist ein mit dem shogakugan manga award ausgezeichneter coming-of-age-manga, der derzeit noch im jōsei-magazin „monthly flowers“ läuft. er folgt den drei recht ungewöhnlichen freunden kaoru, ritsuko und sentaro, die auf den ersten blick nicht viel gemeinsam zu haben scheinen mit einer ausnahme: ihrer passion für jazzmusik. wie gut sich ein solcher manga bei einer derartigen konstellation wie der hiesigen umsetzen lässt kann man schon im ersten trailer bewundern:

ich kann nur sagen: uns steht großartiges bevor.

dieser film hatte alles, was schon den ersten so einzigartig und grandios machte, und etablierte vollends diesen ganz eigenen stil, den ich von nun an wohl für immer und ewig mit guy ritchie verbinden werde: einem stil aus bewundernswerter kameraführung in dialogen als auch actionsequenzen; zeitlupen-aufnahmen in situationen, die unter anderen umständen – typisch für action-filme – aufmerksamkeitsheischend und gezwungen wirken würden, in diesem fall aber einfach nur atemberaubend und mitreißend sind; witz, charme, einfallsreichtum, geniale dialoge (die im englischen sicherlich noch sehr viel besser sind), einen großartigen cast (stephen fry ftw! mycroft hätte nicht besser besetzt sein können), chemie, eleganz, explosionen und kampfszenen, die ich zu den besten zählen würde, die man so im film zu sehen bekommt.

es macht einfach spaß, den schauspielern bei ihrer arbeit zuzusehen und weiß, dass sie ebenso viel spaß hatten, den film zu drehen. wer interviews mit rdj und jude law gesehen hat wird wissen, wie sehr sich die beiden auch abseits der kamera verfallen sind, und genau das ist es, was ihren beiden rollen das gewisse extra im zusammenspiel gibt. wenn man meint, die besten szenen schon in trailern und featurettes gesehen zu haben, kann man sich auf viele überraschungen freuen, welche die erwartungen noch um einiges übertreffen.

auch die musik ist vom werten herrn zimmer wieder ausgezeichnet umgesetzt worden, auch wenn ich dieses mal ein wenig die solo-violine vermisst habe, der wir im ost des ersten teiles so oft lauschen dürfen. der klang ist teilweise düsterer und dramatischer, wie man es vom titel des filmes wohl erwarten kann, und etwas weniger verspielt, glänzt jedoch nach wie vor durch die immer wieder erfreulichen variationen des hauptthemas.

wenn man darüber hinaus noch einen grund suchen sollte, diesen film zu sehen, möchte ich nur so viel sagen: sherlock holmes auf einem shettland pony. es ist fabelhaft.

leider habe ich den wortlaut im deutschen nicht mehr im kopf, aber die englische imdb hat mir für das obligatorische zitat zum schluss mal wieder ausgeholfen:

Okay… es ist im Grunde schwierig enttäuscht zu werden, wenn man in einen Film geht und von vornherein davon ausgeht, dass er schlecht ist. Heute habe ich gelernt, dass es trotzdem möglich ist. Es gibt Filme die sind so schlecht, dass sie schon wieder lustig sind und man wenigstens über sie lachen kann, und dann gibt es Filme… die sind einfach nur schlecht. Twilight Breaking Dawn Teil 1 gehört für mich definitiv in letztere Kategorie.

Die Dialoge sind immer noch so schlecht, dass sie einem beinahe körperliche Schmerzen bereiten, die Regie scheint es immer noch für eine geniale Idee zu halten die totale Mimikfreie Zone die Kristen Stewarts Gesicht nun einmal ist (von Robert Pattinson reden wir gar nicht erst… der Schlafzimmerblick geht mir eh tierisch auf den Keks) in endlosen Nahaufnahmen zu präsentieren und ich hab noch nie so schlecht animiertes Wasser gesehen. Und das Schlimmste daran? Im Gegensatz zu den Vorgängerfilmen konnte man noch nicht mal herzhaft darüber lachen.

Da geht man ins Kino um sich einen schönen Abend zu machen und sich bei einem schlechten Film den Arsch wegzulachen, und dann ist es nicht mal komisch. Meine Kollegin, die nicht glauben konnte, dass wir einen Film anschaun würden, nur weil wir wussten dass er schlecht ist, kommentierte das so nach Filmende so: Wow, this exceeded my expections.

Was fast noch schlimmer war, war die Person die irgendwo hinter uns saß und schon vor Beginn des Films meinte: „Hach ja, der Film ist so schön, den kann man auch ein zweites Mal sehen.“ Ja nee, is klar. Nicht mal wenn sie mir Geld bieten würden. Ganz ehrlich, ich kann zwei Stunden auch mit wesentlich unterhaltsameren Dingen verbringen anstatt derartige Lebenszeitverschwendung zu betreiben. Ach ja und der Soundtrack ist ja mal mehr als nur grauenhaft. Die Szenen waren teilweise so schrecklich mit Musik unterlegt, dass man echt nur mit Kopf schütteln konnte; absolut unpassend.

Naja, soviel mal dazu…

zwischenschritt: stoffe, perücken und andere gemeinheiten.

meine lange suche nach dem richtigen stoff fand nun endlich ein ende. die entscheidung fiel auf ein baumwoll-satin, das bestenfalls noch diese woche ankommt, damit ich mich am wochenende direkt an die nähmaschine (die ich mir noch von einem freund leihen muss) setzen kann. ich bin jetzt schon sehr gespannt darauf, den stoff in händen zu halten – ein stoffmuster schicken zu lassen hätte einfach zu lange gedauert. man darf das beste hoffen.

um meinen geldbeutel etwas zu schonen habe ich eine billigere langhaarperücke erstanden mit der absicht, diese auf die richtige länge zu schneiden. dass weniger geld leider auch oft schlechtere qualität bedeutet musste ich nun auf die harte tour lernen, als die bestellte perücke ankam und ich beim blick in den spiegel am liebsten laut losgekreischt hätte (ich kann nur dummerweise nicht kreischen, sonst hätte ich es vielleicht tatsächlich getan).
ein foto habe ich davon nicht gemacht, dafür war die ganze angelegenheit einfach zu grausam, aber seid gewarnt: karnevalsperücken sind auch tatsächlich nur das, egal, wie toll die bilder auf ebay dazu aussehen.
also habe ich jetzt doch die perücke bestellt, die ich ursprünglich ins auge gefasst hatte und sie in einer aktion, in der ich der einzige bieter war, sogar noch 5 euronen billiger bekommen habe.

tabisocken und neue riemen für die zōri.

außerdem sind meine tabisocken angekommen. ich war etwas erstaunt, dass es sich nur um ein paar handelte, wo doch in der ebay-beschreibung irgendwo eine zwei auftauchte – merke deshalb auch: immer richtig lesen, bevor man auf bestellen klickt, denn zwei zehensocken sind eben auch nur zwei zehensocken, nicht zwei paar. wieder was gelernt. wenigstens passen sie.
da ich nirgendwo ein bezahlbares, durchsichtiges elastisches band finden konnte (und die für zwei läppische bh-träger 6 euronen verlangen), das ich statt der in teil i zu bewundernden konstruktion als neue riemen (und halterung für die maske) benutzen wollte, habe ich mir nun vorerst mit stoffresten vom hanjuban und ein paar ösen ausgeholfen. mal sehen, wie das dann mit dem yukata drüber aussieht, zu not muss ich mir da noch mal was neues überlegen.

schritt 3: die maske.

die idee, die grundform der maske mit hilfe eines luftballons anzufertigen, verdanke ich einem freund von mir, und ich muss sagen: es funktioniert eigentlich ganz gut, wenn man erst einmal herausgefunden hat, wie groß man den luftballon aufblasen muss. der erste versuch war zwar schon ganz in ordnung, aber etwas zu lang am kinn, weshalb ich die maske an den relevanten stellen abschnitt und noch einmal mit neuem pappmaché beklebte.

der etwas klumpige kleister aus mehl und wasser macht sich ebenfalls erstaunlich gut, wenn man ihn nicht zu lange kocht (aber das ist ja nichts, das man nicht mit etwas mehr wasser wieder hinkriegen kann).

fehlt nur noch die fimo-schicht. warum überhaupt das zeug drauf machen? weil mich diese anleitung auf die idee brachte. und weil es das zeug als „light“ gibt, was tatsächlich erstaunlich leicht ist. allemal besser als gips.

schritt 4: tsukeeri part ii und suso.

mit etwas haushaltsband stellte ich nun endlich den tsukeeri fertig. da die anleitungen auf kimono de cheap nicht immer ganz nachvollziehbar und eindeutig sind habe ich mir etwas freiheit genommen was den kragen selbst angeht, der mir nach den angaben der seite einfach zu breit ist, weshalb ich ihn noch einmal in der mitte faltete. jetzt muss ich mir nur noch etwas pappe zum verstärken besorgen und dann werde ich sehen, ob sich das weiß des leinens mit dem baumwollsatin zu sehr sticht und ich noch einen haneri (also eine zusätzliche stoffbahn) draufnähe.

in teil i schrieb ich noch, dass ich mir nicht sicher wäre, ob ich einen suso machen sollte (das ist eine art rock), aber da der stoff, den ich für den hanjuban und tsukeeri benutzt habe, noch ein genügend großes stück bereithielt habe ich nun doch noch eine sehr simple version davon angefertigt, die im grunde nur aus einem rechteck mit zwei bändern an den außenseiten zum – wer hätte das gedacht – binden besteht.

da der stoff nicht wie bei einem nagajuban unter dem kimono hervorschauen soll ist das schon in ordnung, denke ich (die feinheiten kann ich dann für das „upgrade“ zur nächsten leibu einbauen).

damit ist die „unterwäsche“ im grunde komplett. das wochenende wird dann im zeichen der maske und des tatsächlichen yukatas stehen.

schuld ist die letzte leipziger buchmesse. wenn man einmal blut geleckt hat ist es schwer, die vielen cosplayer zu sehen, die einem dort über den weg laufen, und nicht in nostalgie zu ertrinken bezüglich des eigenen ersten cosplays, das schon einige jahre zurückliegt. die nächste (und erste wirklich echte) con, der ich beiwohnen werde, ist die mmc in berlin, und ich habe mir fest vorgenommen, dort im cos zu erscheinen.

der hintergrund

nach einigen ideen für passende charaktere (hoch im kurs stand lange zeit lan fan aus fullmetal alchemist und wurde später ergänzt von soi fon und noch ein wenig später gar der rukia nach dem zeitsprung, beide aus bleach) hatte ich schließlich die eingebung beim schauen des natsume yūjin-chō-animes: hiiragi, eine ayakashi (eine art dämon), ist genau das, was ich brauche: sie hat eine maske (konträr zu dem wunsch eines neuen cosplays werde ich absolut nicht gerne fotografiert – und selbst mit den im nachhinein nicht so tollen anbu-cosplays vor 4 jahren wurden wir einige male um ein foto gebeten), trägt ein relativ einfaches kostüm (den oben erwähnten yukata) und sollte unbekannt genug sein, um nicht allzu oft angesprochen zu werden. da ich wie ebenfalls oben schon erwähnt absoluter anfänger in sachen nähen (im alten cosplay war es im grunde nur die „weste“, die tatsächlich selbst genäht war) und auch sonst handwerklich nicht großartig begabt bin möchte ich den prozess der cosplay-herstellung dokumentieren und mit den fehlern und problemen, denen ich dabei begegne, vielleicht dem ein oder anderen helfen, der ähnliche ambitionen verspürt. deshalb legen wir auch direkt los.

die planung

die zerstörte maske im anime.

wer cosplayen möchte braucht natürlich vor allem eines: referenzbilder. mein erster anhaltspunkt dafür waren diverse cosplay-seiten und deviantart, wo ich nach cosplayern suchte, die sich schon vor mir an diesem kostüm versuchten, um gewissermaßen abzugucken, wie sie an die sache herangegangen sind. das erste, was mir dabei auffiel, war die masken-problematik – dank des anbu-cosplays erinnere ich mich gut daran, wie schwer die gips-masken am ende waren, und einen pappteller als grundlage wollte ich auch nicht verwenden.
außerdem würde es schwer werden, mit einer maske ohne löcher für die augen eine messe zu besuchen, also erinnerte ich mich der szene in der geschichte, in der hiirragi (zu diesem zeitpunkt noch ohne namen) vorgestellt wird und an dessen ende ihre maske bricht und ein auge freigelegt wird. damit entschied ich mich also im grunde für ein hiiragi-cosplay, bevor sie überhaupt diesen namen annimmt (mit dem namen verändert sich auch ihr äußeres ein wenig), aber solche details sollen nicht weiter stören.

das zweite problem kam natürlich in der form, dass ich keine ahnung habe, wie man überhaupt einen yukata näht – anfangs suchte ich noch nach nähanleitungen für kimonos, doch da die bekanntlich (?) gefüttert sind und ich mir das nun doch nicht zutraute stieg ich lieber auf einen yukata (also einen sommer-kimono) um, der im grunde ähnlichkeiten mit einem kleid hat.

das dritte problem war der haori (kimonojacke), den hiiragi über ihrem kimono/yukata trägt. ein normaler haori ist ungefähr hüftlang, ihrer jedoch geht bis zu den knöcheln. glücklicherweise kann man ja aber maßangaben nach eigenem gutdünken ändern.

einzig die frisur schien mir anfangs noch das geringere problem – tatsächlich ließ ich meine haare schon eine längere zeit über mit dem gedanken des hiiragi-cosplays im hinterkopf wachsen. da die figur allerdings blond ist und mir dann später zugetragen wurde, dass sich dunkle haare nicht mal eben blond tönen lassen, habe ich mich nun doch dazu entschieden, eine perücke zu kaufen. damit wuchs die liste der zu besorgenden dinge nun doch schon etwas an, aber niemand hat behauptet, ein cosplay wäre einfach zu machen.

schritt 1: die richtige nähanleitung.

wer noch nie in seinem leben etwas nach muster genäht hat wird wie ich mit großen augen und blinkenden fragezeichen vor einem schnittmuster sitzen. ein solches war zu einem kimono schnell gefunden (kimono und yukata werden auf ähnliche art und weise genäht), doch als ich mir youtube-videos dazu ansah verließ mich eigentlich fast wieder der mut. glücklicherweise fand ich aber auch noch richtige anleitungen für komplett-anfänger, die mit etwas verständlicherer sprache erklären, wann was gemacht werden soll, weshalb nun eigentlich nur noch das problem der maße besteht, die in jeder anleitung irgendwie anders lauten und mich nach wie vor etwas verwirren. immerhin habe ich mittlerweile raus: der stoff sollte die maße 1,5 x 3 m haben.

schritt 2: der hanjuban.

meine nachforschungen bezüglich japanischer kleidung führten mich in ein ganzes regiment vorher unbekannter regeln, die zum tragen eines kimono dazugehören, angefangen mit dem unterkimono, dem juban. dazu gehört so etwas wie ein hemd, über dem der nagajuban gezogen wird (vielleicht mit einem unterkleid zu vergleichen). über den nagajuban kam ich dann zum hanjuban (han bedeutet halb, und genauso kann man sich das teil auch vorstellen: wie ein bis zu den hüften reichender juban), der, wie eine nähanleitung behauptete, zusammen mit einem tsukeeri (das ist ein kragen, der nicht direkt angenäht ist, sondern sozusagen über den hanjuban geschnallt wird; siehe auch die bilder unter obigen links), einfacher zu nähen sei. super gelegenheit, das nähen überhaupt ersteinmal auszuprobieren, dachte ich, und machte mich direkt ans werk.

in weiser voraussicht hatte ich beim letzten heimbesuch ein altes weißes bettlaken mitgenommen, das irgendwann einmal zu zwecken des cosplays in einem schrank gelagert worden war, und fing direkt an, die ersten teile herauszuschneiden. dabei lernte ich zwei wichtige aspekte des nähens kennen: man braucht auf jeden fall eine stoffschere und sollte, wenn möglich, lieber etwas großzügiger (und vor allem gerade) schneiden. das ergebnis meiner ersten nähversuche sind nun merhfach akkupunktierte fingerkuppen, diverses neues nähsortiment und ein nicht unbedingt ansehnlicher, unfertiger hanjuban (da kommen eigentlich noch ärmel, sode, ran und ein suso, also eine art rock, dazu, aber ob ich das noch mache steht in den sternen), der mir dummerweise zu klein ist. aber aller anfang ist bekanntlich schwer.

der tsukeeri ist derweil in der mache, allerdings fehlen mir noch ein paar weiße schnüre, die ich unwillig bin, aus meinen stoffresten zu nähen (das alles per hand zu machen ist mit der zeit anstrengend, weshalb ich für den tatsächlichen yukata die nähmaschine eines kumpels belagern werde.)

zwischenschritt: zōri und zeitbedingte änderungen.

so kann man natürlich nicht rumlaufen...

zōri besitze ich dank des letzten japanfestivals in berlin schon, hatte allerdings von anfang an bedenken, selbige zu tragen, da ich in latschen und ähnlichem schuhwerk absolut nicht laufen kann und ungern meinen neuen persönlichen sillywalk erfinden wollte.
um mich bei der messe also nicht zum trottel zu machen habe ich mir überlegt, meine zōri einfach zu einer art sandalen umzufunktionieren und dafür schon einmal provisorisch einen zusätzlichen riemen für die ferse angebracht. da kommt dann noch etwas schwarzer stoff rum, damit das etwas ansehnlicher wird, und später der yukata drüber. auf die schuhe guckt ja eh keiner. hoffe ich.

da hat sie noch ein seil um den hals. die verbände werden wohl das geringste problem.

da diverse andere dinge mich leider sehr von der arbeit an dem cosplay abhalten fasste ich schließ-lich die entscheidung, für die mmc noch die manga-version von hiiragi zu portraitieren. dort trägt sie nämlich anfangs nur den weißen kimono und bekommt erst später, wenn sie dann schon ihren neuen namen angenommen hat, die schwarze jacke sowie ein schwert (ein chokutō, wenn ich mich nicht täusche) dazu.
im anime jedoch trägt sie von anfang an den haori und zudem einen violetten juban (die farbe des juban sowie auch des kimono an sich ändern sich dummerweise öfter mal) + passendem obi (der „gürtel“). färbemittel habe ich zwar nun schon besorgt, aber das wird ja nicht schlecht, weshalb juban und obi vorerst weiß bleiben werden.

die fertigung der maske – dieses mal wohlweislich mit hilfe einer pappmaché-grundlage und fimo-überzug) wird hoffentlich am wochenende ausgeführt werden (sobald ich mehl für den tapetenkleister gekauft habe, den man nämlich auch wunderbar selber machen kann, wenn man keine lust hat, 5 euro für eine bastelladen-miniflasche auszugeben bzw. gleich einen ganzen eimer im baumarkt erstehen zu müssen.)

ever since the announcement for supernatural’s 6th season i’ve had had mixed feelings about it. i’d liked the idea of a 5 year plan, going out with a bang (and the apocalypse is quite a bang), and after eric kripke resigned his post as show runner i thought this couldn’t go well. don’t get me wrong: sera gamble and ben edlund were more than capable of taking over the ship (they are two terrific writers as well), but reinventing the show after it should have already ended probably wasn’t the easiest task at hand.
so season 6 struggled (at least concerning my tastes.) it had it’s high moments, what with episodes like weekend at bobby’s, clap your hands if you believe, frontierland and of course the french mistake, the new definition of meta-episode i’ve written about a while back (and one of SN’s best episodes ever – yes, i appreciate the humorous side of the show). at the same time it also had a couple of episodes which lacked the former spirit, which were kinda dull and thus really needed the whacky ones to keep up. it felt like the main storyline just couldn’t support itself.

and now season 7 started – and i fell in love with the show all over again. at first i was kind of hoping everything bad that happened in the last two episodes of s6 would simply turn out well, as lame as it might have been, so i was really anxiously waiting for a goofy „just kidding“ after cas told our three favourite (living) hunters to kneel before him. it didn’t come (for obvious reasons), but instead did the inevitable we’ve had all been dreading ever since death put sam’s soul back where it belonged – the breaking down of the wall in sam’s head. but i liked how they went a bit of a different way of making him cope with the memories of hell, as such creating a parallelism with what castiel – pardon: god – experienced: utter madness (albeit in rather different shapes.)

and there was so much more to like: crowley’s reaction to cas finding him despite his anti-angel-measurements, death’s reaction to the boys calling upon and binding him, dean’s reaction to sam (again) not telling him some vital part of what was happening to him.
nevertheless the best scenes imho were with misha showing off some of his amazing talent, especially the last scene, where he even reminded me a bit of heath ledger’s joker performance. (not to mention leaving room for a lot of awesomeness to come for the next couple of weeks to look forward to.)

i was also rejoicing over the return of marc pellegrino (who did a great job as always) and julian richings as death (he fits the image like no other could) and the many little details in dialogue and character traits that make SN so damn likable. now we can just hope they keep that pace and greatness up – right now it seems the show is back to former strengths.

im grunde fassen obige worte das erlebnis dieses filmes auch schon perfekt zusammen. wie vom dritten teil diese cgi-überladenen trilogie nicht anders zu erwarten wurde der zuschauer in einen irrsinn aus fast krankhafter komik und gehirnerweichende action geworfen, angerichtet mit der ebenfalls nicht anders zu erwartenden portion hollywood-geschnulze (aber glücklicherweise in maßen) und etwas geschichtsunterricht.
aber gehen wir der reihe nach, beginnend mit den nicht so tollen dingen.

ohne zu viel vorwegnehmen zu wollen sei erwähnt, dass die „rückblende“ auf die „wahren“ geschehnisse (und hintergründe) der mondlandung ’69 ein bunter mischmasch aus historischen und neuen aufnahmen ist, was ich so als nicht besonders gut ausgeführt empfand, da die neuen aufnahmen doch wenigstens der qualität und dem aussehen der alten hätten angepasst werden können, zumal dann auch nicht ganz so viel verwirrung in den ersten minuten entstanden wäre. (weitere verwirrung kam durch die bekloppte pause auf, die das kino nach anderthalb stunden ansetzte und leider mal wieder die ganze spannung zunichte machte, aber hey.)
nachdem diese sequenz abgearbeitet war kam es gleich zum zweiten punkt des filmes, der mir schon vorab kopfschmerzen bereitete: rosie huntington-whiteley, aka carly, aka sams neue. wer sich etwas mit der produktion des filmes beschäftigt hat wird früh von megan foxs rauswurf gehört haben, weshalb nun schnell eine halbwegs plausible story erfunden werden musste, wer denn nun die neue in sams leben ist – am ende war es aber auch ziemlich egal, da carly wie schon vor ihr mikaela eh nur zum hübsch anschauen und nervender klotz am bein zu gebrauchen war. aber sam wäre nicht sam ohne seine „jungfrau“ in nöten, von daher kann darüber (und carlys ständig wechselnden schuhe) hinweggesehen werden.
ein dritter minuspunkt geht mal wieder an die synchro. sobald carly den mund aufmachte wollte man sich nur noch vor grauen sämtliche haare vom kopf reißen. keine ahnung, wer auf die idee kam, ihr eine solch unanhörliche stimme zu verpassen, und irgendwie klang auch der dialog an einigen stellen, als wäre er unter zeitdruck übersetzt und eingesprochen worden. aber bald kommt die dvd, dann muss man sich das nicht mehr antun.

damit kommen wir auch schon zu den positiven aspekten. wo soll ich da nur anfangen?
wer in einen solchen film geht tut das natürlich nicht der unglaublich ausgefeilten story sondern der explosionen und des decepticon-verdreschens wegen. und meine fresse, die hälfte des filmes konnte man nicht anders, als mit offenem mund dazusitzen – buchstäblich. ein fast vollständig demoliertes chicago (grüße an menoats, der sich sehr über die filmarbeiten in seiner heimatstadt freute), explodierende menschen und roboterköpfe, teleportation und in der mitte durchbrechende wolkenkratzer (DIE genialste action-sequenz EVAR): mehr braucht man nicht zum glücklich sein. dass die autobots und decepticons neuerdings bluten können war auch ganz witzig.
noch viel witziger waren jedoch die alteingesessenen comic-relief-figuren in form von sams eltern (die mutter ist einfach das personifizierte fremdschämen) und nun ex cia-agent simmons, sowie dessen durchgeknalltem assi dutch (gespielt vom wunderbaren alan tudyk, der dem ein oder anderen vielleicht noch als walsh aus firefly ein begriff ist.) noch viel unbegreiflicher war jedoch jerry wang, gespielt von ken jeong – einem improschauspieler erster güte, den man z.b. auch in hangover und vampires suck (beilght) bewundern durfte. ich möchte seine rolle nicht spoilern, da man ihn einfach selbst erleben muss, deshalb nur soviel: seine szenen mit shia waren einfach nur zum schreien komisch und gehören zu dem wahnwitzigsten, das ich jemals auf leinwand gesehen habe.

schön war auch das wiedersehen mit anderen bekannten figuren wie major lennox, dem in ruhestand gegangenen epps samt altem team, general morshower sowie dem neuzugang „nennen-sie-mich-nicht-m’am,-sehe-ich-aus-wie-eine-m’am?!“-mearing, die sich erstmal ohne mit der wimper zu zucken mit dem mindestens 50 mal größeren optimus anlegt. erwähnt sei auch sams neue schrottkarre neues auto („das ist ein sammlerstück!“), da bee ja nun immer die welt retten muss und keine zeit mehr für ihn hat. der kerl mag vielleicht einen orden vom potus bekommen haben, aber am ende ist er halt immer noch der gleiche verlierer wie am anfang der geschichte.

der film ist so voll gepackt, dass man das gefühl hatte, doppelt so lange wie gewöhnlich im kinosaal zu verbringen, ohne dabei langatmig oder gar –weilig zu werden. die erhöhte brutalität hat mich erfreut aber auch etwas überrascht, zumal in der 17:30-vorstellung auch eine menge kinder dabei waren, deren mütter den film bestimmt nicht so toll fanden. michael bay wollte es wohl noch mal allen so richtig zeigen.
natürlich durften auch die goo goo dolls und linkin park auf der musikalischen seite nicht fehlen, die wie steve jablonsky ja zum inventar diesbezüglich gehören. ebenso wie optimus’ berühmte schlussworte, die mich immer wieder an die tollen alten u.s.-trickfilme erinnern, in denen die helden am ende jeder folge den kindern noch moralische vorträge halten. und darum merkt euch folgende worte (ich hab mir so spontan nicht die deutsche version gemerkt, also gibt’s das obligatorische zitat zum schluss auf englisch):

„In any war, there are calms between storms. There will be days when we lose faith. Days when our allies turn against us… But the day will never come that we forsake this planet and its people.“

das thema ist, wie es der titel schon besagt, der schnittpunkt zwischen der gilde der anime- und mangafans (einmal sporadisch am beispiel der cosplayer festgemacht) und der japanischen kultur, die auf die ein oder andere art und weise durch die bevorzugten medien auch dem ausländischen publikum vermittelt und zugängig gemacht wird. bei nicht wenigen führt dies zu einem allgemeinen interesse an japan und vor allem der sprache (ich selbst gehöre dazu), was an sich eine wunderbare gelegenheit für das individuum ist, seinen horizont zu erweitern, die sitten anderer kulturen kennen zu lernen und z.b. bei dem studium des japanischen gleich noch zusätzliche qualifikationen zu erlangen, soweit man es denn bis zu einem gewissen grad des sprachverständnisses bringt.
wie oben erwähnt ist es aber vor allem der gemeinschaftssinn, der die fans zusammenbringt: dabei aber nicht das interesse an japan im allgemeinen sondern eben nur diesem einen zweig, also die comic-branche, im speziellen. das ergebnis sieht man jährlich (in wachsender quantität) auf der leipziger buchmesse: horden von cosplayern und otakus in zivil stürmen die glashalle und halle zwei, um zu sehen und gesehen zu werden, sich auszutauschen und einfach dem fan-dasein zu fröhnen. das problem: die lbm wird für diejenigen mehr und mehr zu einer convention. dass es bei der messe hauptsächlich um bücher geht und nicht darum, das fanherz höher schlagen zu lassen und die diversen kaufabsichten zu befriedigen wird da ganz gerne vergessen, und so bleibt der augenscheinliche großteil dieser gemeinschaft unter sich, „verkriecht“ sich in seine ecken und scheint damit oft auszusagen: lass mich in ruhe und ich gehe dir nicht auf die nerven. das unverständnis, mit dem die allgemeinheit der deutschen nach wie vor auf cosplay reagiert, sollte dabei aber nicht als grund für ein solches verhalten angesehen werden.
die aktion „1.000 kraniche für japan“ auf der diesjährigen messe war indes eine schöne idee und beweis, dass tatsächlich ein teil der japanischen kultur mit dem anime- und manga-hype nach deutschland gekommen ist. was mich dann aber wundert ist die interessenlosigkeit an anderen dingen, der ich schon oft bei anderen otakus begegnet bin. so wird der teegarten auf der lbm häufig lediglich als sitzgelegenheit für müde cosplayer-füße genutzt und das angebot, die mitglieder der djg (deutsch-japanische gesellschaft) leipzig mit fragen zu bestürmen nur selten genutzt (und wenn doch, eher von „normalen“ besuchern mit einem allgemeinen interesse.)

ein anderes beispiel: japantage. hier in leipzig wurde dieses jahr der dritte japantag durchgeführt (bzw. in markkleeberg – man möge mir verzeihen, wenn ich markkleeberg zu leipzig zähle, auch wenn die kleinere stadt das ganz und gar nicht gut heißt), und er war alles andere als das, was sich ein an japan interessierter darunter vorgestellt hätte.
fangen wir aber mit letzten jahr (meinem ersten besuch auf dem japantag) an: wie nicht anders zu erwarten wurde die ganze veranstaltung im kleinen rahmen durchgeführt, dafür gab es aber ein umfangreiches kulturelles angebot von einem papiermacher über die üblichen tische mit origami, sumi-e, sushi und dem klassiker „den eigenen namen auf japansich schreiben“, bis hin zu kampfkunst-vorführungen, taiko-trommeln und dem – ebenfalls wohl schon obligatorischen – angebot an manga- und anime-merchandise. aber warum eigentlich obligatorisch? sicher – manga und anime gehört zur modernen japanischen kultur wie comics in amerika, frankreich und belgien. was aber auffällt ist die erhöhte aufmerksamkeit, die diesem thema gewidmet wird. so bestand ein großteil der besucher des japantages natürlich aus otakus (die fülle an cosplayern, die alle gleichzeitig das gelände stürmten, erregte einiges an aufmerksamkeit) – die sich aber wie auch auf den buchmessen wieder nur in ihren grüppchen zusammenfanden, schattige plätzchen aufsuchten und vielleicht ein zwei mal das angebot und programm in anspruch nahmen.
was mich dabei am meisten irritierte war vor allem die gleichgültigkeit, die den kampfvorführungen entgegengebracht wurde – das lesen einer fülle von shounen-serien facht mein eigenes interesse an kampfkunst nur noch an, weshalb ich mir keine gelegenheit entgehen lasse, solche vorführungen zu sehen. die wirklich kulturellen angebote wurden eher von den anderen besuchern wahrgenommen, wohingehend ich bis dato immer erwartet hatte, dass das interesse daran unter den otakus allgemein sehr hoch sein sollte.

in diesem jahr dann die überraschung: der ganze japantag stand unter dem thema cosplay, was sich negativ auf das angebot auswirkte (kaum kultur, dafür viel fokus auf die eingeschworene gemeinde) und damit bei weitem nicht die menge an besuchern anlockte, die im letzten jahr zu verzeichnen war. mehr noch zeigten sich die cosplayer von ihrer meiner meinung nach schlechtesten seite, benahmen sich teilweise echt daneben (lautes gerede und dumme zwischenrufe bei den taiko-trommlern, rumgerenne und peinliches gekreische) und waren auch noch enttäuscht, dass es kein größeres angebot für ihre persönliche interessenlage gab. auch hier zeigt sich wieder: die ganze veranstaltung stand unter dem eindruck, eine con zu sein, anstatt das, was es tatsächlich darstellte: ein tag rund um japan und seiner kultur, die nun einmal nicht primär mit menschen in kostümen und comics zu tun hat.
das gleiche bild bekam ich auch schon beim japantag in berlin anfang des jahres, bei dem sich mehrere darüber beschwerten, wie langweilig es doch wäre und das viel zu wenige cosplayer da seien – dabei gab es auch dort ein extra darauf zugeschnittenes angebot, mit wettbewerb und allem drum und dran: meiner meinung nach mehr, als zu erwarten gewesen war. stattdessen stürmten einige cosser die bühne während einer aikido-aufführung, um sich fotografieren zu lassen, und wurden auch sonst wieder eher weniger an den ständen mit den interessanten traditionell ausgelegten angeboten gesehen.

meine meinung: wer manga liest und anime sieht muss deswegen nicht unbedingt zum japan-fan im allgemeinen werden, sollte sich dann aber auch nicht beschweren, wenn eine veranstaltung zu diesem thema nicht den hauptfokus auf cosplay legt. wer sich unter „normalos“ missverstanden fühlt, lieber abgeschieden unter sich sein und eine vielzahl an merchandise haben will soll eben eine echte con besuchen und nicht jede japan-bezogene veranstaltung kurzerhand dazu erklären. außerdem würde ein wenig benehmen dem ein oder anderen nicht schaden, ebenso das über den tellerrand gucken und sich auch einmal mit der kultur zu beschäftigen, die hinter anime und manga steht. dann würde vielleicht auch auffallen, dass es schon ganz richtig ist, wenn der des japanischen sehr wohl mächtigen moderator des cosplay-wettbewerbs pain und konan als der serie NAruto entsprungen ankündigt, nicht naRUto, wie eine zuschauerin in meiner nähe echauffiert anmerkte – das die hand gegen die stirn klatschen konnte ich mir gerade noch verkneifen, nicht aber die stimme des kakadus page aus beck mongolian chop squad, der in meinem kopf immer wieder „aho! aho!“ (dummkopf, idiot) rief…
